I  lived in hope every dae ( day )

That ye ( you ) may pop ( come ) alang ( along ) me ( my ) way

Each face, each dae ( day )  each murmur ( sound )

Always lookin ( looking ) aroond ( around ) each corner

I hope oh ( of ) bumping intae ( into ) ye ( you )

Tae ( to ) settle whit'er ( whatever) ye ( you ) were goin ( going ) through

Ne'er ( never ) a trace , ne'er a call
I jist ( just ) wonder whit (what ) wis ( was ) the cause oh ( of ) it.

I looked deep intae ( into ) me ( my ) hert ( heart )

Tae ( to ) find the reason's why we did pert ( part )

I cannae ( cannot) find a reason tae ( to ) blame

Aw I feel noo ( now) is sadness and pain
