Ask Her To Dance
Image Pinterest 🌹
He lay with his window wide open to hear the sounds of the passing trains rattling along their familiar track
Trying hard no longer to look back
Wind howling through trees near by
Rain splattered windows landed
Gave cause to cry
Alone within thought of tomorrow
Heartfelt sorrow
Knowing what lay
Ahead
While he lay here
On his dying bed
No more laughter or
Words he shared
No more comfort to say how much
He cared
Trains with no track
Can no longer travel
Back
Words without her
He knew would
Make him feel blue
He had to break away while he had another day
Before he fell asleep he would pray
God give him
One more chance
To reach back time
Where he could
ask her to dance.
In memory of
John Hale Corcoran
My inspiration.
